1. It’s possible to find a great used semi truck without having to leave your home. Online marketplaces are the perfect method to start your search, especially when you work with a company that offers shipping and financing.

2. Selling a used semi truck? You can do that online, too! A service that lists lots of photos of your truck, as well as videos, work history, and other important information, gives potential buyers all of the info they need to make a decision.

3. You know trucks are larger than cars, but did you know just how big the difference is? The average semi truck is 20 to 30 times heavier than a car, and its engine is about six times larger.

4. Your semi truck is not just larger than a car, it’s more durable. A semi truck engine will last for about 800,000 more miles than a car engine, meaning a used semi truck is still going to offer you lots of road time.

5. A jackknife is something every semi truck driver wants to avoid, but did you know what, exactly, makes it a jackknife? There must be a 45-degree angle between the tractor and trailer, at the kingpin, for this to take place. If you buy a used semi truck, make sure you work with a company that will give you a full report on any accidents and incidents each truck has experienced.

6. Semi trucks are pricey! The cab of the rig costs about $130K to $180K brand new and new trailers range from $30K to $80K. With this in mind, you can see why used semi trucks are budget friendly.

7. In Canada, Alberta has the highest number of semi trucks registered, followed by Ontario. No matter where you live, you can have a used semi delivered to you!

If you need to buy used heavy equipment, you don't want to spend a lot of time or money. Ideally, you want to get the equipment as quickly as possible for a price you can afford. With that in mind, you should consider shopping for your used heavy equipment or trucks online. You will save a lot of cash, and you will have your equipment delivered promptly.

Bigger Inventory

If you go to a heavy equipment dealer or an individual seller, you won't have much equipment to choose from. That means you will likely go from one dealer or seller to the next, trying to find what you are looking for in used heavy equipment. On the other hand, when you use an online company, you have countless options right at your fingertips. That makes it simple to find the specific used heavy equipment you want to purchase. Not only that, but it can save you a lot of time since you don't have to travel from one location to the next.

Shipping Options

You will also save time since you can have the equipment shipped directly to you. That means you won't have to drive to pick up your equipment. You can stay on the jobsite or work in the office while you wait for it to arrive.

Comparison Shopping

Shopping online also makes it easy to find the best deal since you can do some comparison shopping on a single website. You can compare specifications and prices to find something that fits your needs and your budget. This can result in significant savings.

If time and money are important to you, then it makes sense to buy your used heavy equipment online. From the large inventory to comparison shopping options, this is the best way to save time and money.

Buying a dump truck is a big investment. Most experts will advise you to consider buying a used dump truck because they typically have many good years beyond the first owner. But buying used is also inherently a bit risky. How do you know if a used dump truck has been taken care of and properly maintained? Here are a few tips for inspecting a used dump truck as you consider your purchase.

    1. Service Records - Every used dump truck will have a service record (and if they don’t, be wary). Repair work records will indicate if there’s a consistent problem of break-downs and you should know where past work was conducted. Make sure that the VIN on the truck matches the VIN on the records. Check that the engine oil and transmission fluid were changed regularly and checked for contamination from antifreeze or metal traces.

    2. Suspension - On a used dump truck, the suspension is very important and repairing suspension is not cheap. Learn a bit about the manufacturer of the particular suspension system and make sure they’ve got a reputation for high quality system.

    3. Rust - Any rust that is structural, or around the frame, may be a sign of imminent demise for a used dump truck. A bit of surface rust is not a major problem, but should be addressed.

    4. Insurance and Financing - You’ll have to get any used dump truck to pass inspection before you can get financing and insurance may end up being very expensive. Find out these costs before making an offer.

    5. Why are they selling? - Know why the seller has decided to get rid of this used dump truck. If they’re evasive or react oddly, don’t take a chance. Go with your gut.

Consider going with a broker if having these and other conversations or inspections feels like too much work. A broker can help you by offering a range of used dump trucks, all in working order.

Storms are an inevitable part of life. Nobody can control the weather, let alone the damage it can create. After a storm hits, however, it’s important to move quickly to clean up before even further damage can occur. Heavy equipment is a necessity for storm cleanup but it can be costly. Used heavy equipment is a great way to handle storm cleanup jobs without spending too much money, as long as you can find quality used heavy equipment.

The Search Begins with Requirements

First of all, you will have to determine what heavy equipment you will need for your storm cleanup job.

If you have lost power, a generator is ideal for powering homes, businesses, and other equipment that relies on electricity. Equipment that allows you to get up high to assess damage is also vital — you may need a truck with a ladder, or in some cases, a crane in order to properly access tall buildings and structures. Heavy equipment that can move and lift large or cumbersome items helps make storm cleanup go quickly. Look for a forklift or lift table to do the heavy jobs. If you need to dig out damaged areas, an excavator can do the trick.

Properly Serviced

No matter what heavy equipment you need in order to handle storm cleanup, if you are buying used, make sure that every piece of machinery has been properly maintained and inspected. This lets you know that your used heavy equipment is safe and reliable, so you can do your job without worry.

You should also ensure that your used heavy equipment purchase is made from a reputable seller. Look for a used heavy equipment dealer with experience in the field, with positive reviews and a good reputation. Companies who focus on quality service typically have happy customers and high quality equipment.
